As climate change progresses, there is a growing need to adapt to its impacts on infrastructure, forestry and agriculture, and environmental protection. A reappraisal of our preparedness for extreme events is also called for. Modelling of climate, economics and impacts on ecosystems has been a key feature of this programme, providing a basis for scenario studies to identify adaptation needs and options.
A field trip for researchers was arranged in mid September in the area of Västmanland affected by a major forest fire.
The programme was completed during the year, holding its concluding conference on 18 November.
