SEK 42 million for circular economy research programme

One of the major challenges industry faces is that of decoupling growth from increased resource use. A new Mistra programme, REES – Resource-Efficient and Effective Solutions based on Circular Economy Thinking, hosted by Linköping University, aims to facilitate the transition to such an economy. Over four years, Mistra will be investing SEK 42 million in the programme, which will include research on policy issues, environmental systems analysis and product development.

‘This is a variant of a graduate school. We not only have joint courses, as at a conventional graduate school, but are also trying to coordinate projects,’ says Mattias Lindahl, the programme’s director.
