Mistra Urban Futures evaluates UN Sustainable Development Goal

When the UN’s Millennium Goals to reduce world poverty expired in 2015, they were replaced with a set of global Sustainable Development Goals. One of the new goals is concerned with sustainable urban development, and Mistra Urban Futures has been asked to evaluate it in five cities in different parts of the world.

‘This is an opportunity for us to play a leading role in an important international process. If the indicators work in these cities, the chances are they will do so in many others around the world,’ says the Centre’s director, David Simon, who took the initiative to evaluate the five cities in Europe, Africa and Asia.
